Coaching with Dr. Laura
It takes courage to want something more—and even more courage to go after it.
Whether you’re healing from the past, redefining your values, or learning to trust yourself in new ways, stepping into change is powerful work.
Religious trauma and high-control systems don’t just shape our beliefs—they shape how we live in our bodies, relate to others, express emotions, make decisions, and take up space in the world. You may have done years of deconstructing ideas but still feel stuck in shame, disconnection, or confusion. Coaching offers a non-clinical space to explore those patterns, reconnect with your body, and move toward a life that reflects your values, your desires, and your sense of self.
While many of my coaching clients come from high-control religions, purity culture, cults, or fundamentalist systems, I work with anyone seeking embodied healing and integration from trauma. Coaching with me is not about symptom management—it’s about building capacity, reconnecting with your inner wisdom, and creating lasting change that honors your autonomy.
Your story is unique, and so is your path forward. In coaching, we’ll focus on what it means to live authentically and meaningfully in the aftermath of trauma. Together, we’ll develop practices, tools, and insights that help you feel more connected, regulated, and empowered in your body and your life.
Who is Coaching For?

Dr. Laura Anderson provides coaching via online sessions only–she does not offer in-office sessions.
Dr. Laura Anderson does not accept insurance but is considered an out-of-network provider. Some insurance companies will cover coaching services. When this is the case, Dr. Laura can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement based on your insurance plan.

Dr. Laura’s Approach
In my coaching work, I bring the same depth and care as I do to therapy—but with a distinct focus on forward movement, integration, and embodiment outside of a clinical context. I recognize that no two individuals are alike, and so each coaching relationship is tailored to your specific history, goals, and values. Together, we’ll co-create a plan that aligns with where you’ve been, where you’re headed, and how you want to feel in your body and life.
My coaching draws from a wide range of modalities that support whole-person healing. These include Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems (IFS), embodiment practices, nervous system regulation tools, and trauma-informed stabilization techniques. I also incorporate approaches rooted in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and narrative work—not in a diagnostic or clinical sense, but as tools to help you make meaning, build resilience, and reconnect with your inner authority.
Many people who leave high-control religion, purity culture, or cult-like environments come to coaching unsure of where to begin. You may feel hesitant to seek support due to past messages about therapy, or frustrated that your healing hasn’t progressed the way you expected. You’re not alone. For years, the dominant voices in religious trauma spaces either dismissed spiritual wounds as untreatable or prescribed atheism as the only path to healing. That left many survivors feeling isolated, invalidated, or more confused.
I approach religious trauma as trauma—no qualifier needed. “Religious” simply points to the context in which the trauma occurred. The way it impacts your nervous system, sense of safety, and relationship with your body mirrors the effects of any trauma that overwhelms your system. In coaching, we honor that truth while working gently and intentionally toward integration, reconnection, and empowerment. Our work is not one-size-fits-all—it’s designed for you, and always grounded in your autonomy, your pace, and your goals.

Coaching at the Center for Trauma Resolution and Recovery
Dr. Laura realizes that she may not be a fit for every person seeking support in their healing journey–whether that is because of the areas she specializes in, her price point, or needing a sliding scale. To that end, she founded the Center for Trauma Resolution and Recovery (CTRR). CTRR is an online trauma coaching company with trauma informed and trauma trained practitioners. CTRR practitioners work with clients resolving and recovering from high control religion, fundamentalism, adverse religious experiences, purity culture, religious trauma and more.
All CTRR coaches offer a free inquiry call so that you can see if they are a good fit for you. To read more about the practitioners who are currently available to take clients and schedule you’re FREE inquiry call, click here!
