Trauma Informed Mediation

Trauma-informed mediation is a collaborative conflict resolution process designed for individuals or organizations navigating complex interpersonal dynamics—especially where trauma, power imbalances, or past harm may be present. Unlike traditional mediation, this approach centers emotional safety, nervous system awareness, and clear communication structures to support respectful dialogue and potential repair.

Who It’s For:

  • Individuals, partners, or groups seeking to resolve personal or professional conflict in a compassionate, structured environment

  • Communities, teams, or spiritual groups recovering from relational ruptures or harm

  • People with histories of trauma, marginalization, or relational harm who need a mediation process that honors their pace, safety needs, and autonomy

Ideal For Addressing Issues Like:

  • Breakdown in trust after abuse or coercion

  • Conflict following a harmful group or religious experience

  • Difficult conversations around accountability, boundaries, and repair

  • Organizational ruptures that require healing-informed response (e.g., boards, collectives, nonprofits)

Trauma-informed mediation is not a legal mediation process and does not result in a legally binding agreement. This approach is not a substitute for court-ordered mediation or legal arbitration, and I do not serve as a legal mediator or make rulings or enforceable decisions.

Instead, trauma-informed mediation focuses on relational healing, communication repair, and mutual understanding—especially in contexts where emotional harm, power dynamics, or past trauma have disrupted trust. The goal is not to impose solutions but to support collaborative, respectful dialogue that fosters clarity, accountability, and, when possible, repair.

While not legally binding, trauma-informed mediation can be a powerful step in resolving complex emotional conflict, rebuilding interpersonal or organizational relationships, and setting the stage for sustainable agreements or future collaboration.
