Therapy with Dr. Laura
Recognizing that something isn’t working—and deciding to reach out for support—is an act of tremendous courage.
Whether you’re living with the effects of trauma, navigating chronic stress, feeling disconnected from yourself, or simply recognizing that the ways you’ve learned to survive are no longer serving you, therapy offers an opportunity to better understand your experiences and begin moving toward lasting healing.
Trauma—regardless of its source—can affect every aspect of our lives. It influences how we think, feel, relate to others, experience our bodies, respond to stress, and make sense of ourselves and the world around us. It can contribute to nervous system dysregulation, relationship difficulties, sleep disruption, chronic stress, and a wide range of emotional and physical symptoms that often leave people feeling confused, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves.
As a therapist, my role is to help you understand not only what has happened to you, but also how those experiences continue to shape your mind, body, relationships, and daily life. Together, we’ll work to resolve the experiences that have overwhelmed your system, develop greater nervous system flexibility, strengthen self-trust, and cultivate a greater sense of safety, connection, and wellbeing.
The individuals I work with often arrive carrying far more than emotional distress. They may be navigating trauma, chronic stress, nervous system dysregulation, chronic pain, sleep disruption, digestive concerns, autoimmune conditions, burnout, or the complex physical and emotional changes that can accompany midlife. Many are also healing from religious trauma, domestic violence, coercive control, family-of-origin trauma, or other experiences that have left lasting impacts on their sense of safety, identity, and wellbeing. I believe meaningful healing often requires understanding the connections between our lived experiences, nervous systems, relationships, physical health, and the environments in which we live.
Every person’s story is unique, and so is the path toward healing. My hope is to provide a therapeutic space where you feel understood, challenged, and supported as you reconnect with yourself and build a life that reflects who you are—not simply what you’ve survived.

Dr. Laura’s Approach
Healing is rarely about addressing one symptom, one diagnosis, or one chapter of a person’s life. It is about understanding the whole person.
As a licensed therapist, I believe meaningful healing happens when we consider the complex interaction between our nervous system, relationships, lived experiences, physical health, identities, environments, and the systems that have shaped us. Every person brings a unique history, biology, and story into therapy, which is why my approach is collaborative, individualized, and never one-size-fits-all. Together, we’ll develop a treatment plan that is grounded in clinical expertise, informed by your lived experience, and aligned with your goals for healing and long-term wellbeing.
Because trauma impacts the entire person—body, brain, emotions, relationships, and sense of self—I practice from an integrative, trauma-informed perspective. My clinical work incorporates Somatic Experiencing®, Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-informed stabilization, and nervous system regulation alongside evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. This combination allows us to address both the underlying roots of distress and the ways trauma continues to influence daily life, relationships, health, and emotional wellbeing.
Many of the individuals I work with experience chronic stress, nervous system dysregulation, sleep disruption, chronic pain, digestive concerns, autoimmune conditions, perimenopause, or other physical symptoms that exist alongside emotional and relational challenges. While therapy does not replace medical care, I believe meaningful healing requires understanding the relationship between our minds, bodies, relationships, lived experiences, and the systems in which we live. When appropriate, I encourage collaboration with other members of your healthcare team so that therapy becomes one part of a comprehensive approach to wellbeing.
Although I work with a wide range of trauma survivors, much of my clinical work has focused on individuals recovering from religious trauma, spiritual abuse, domestic violence, coercive control, and other high-control relationships and systems. Many clients come to therapy carrying years of shame, self-doubt, hypervigilance, or confusion, often believing something is fundamentally wrong with them rather than recognizing these responses as understandable adaptations to prolonged adversity.
I understand religious trauma as a legitimate form of trauma. “Religious” simply describes the context in which the trauma occurred—it does not diminish its impact. Whether your experiences stem from a faith community, an intimate relationship, your family of origin, or another high-control environment, therapy is designed to help you better understand your experiences, reconnect with yourself, reduce distress, and cultivate lasting healing. My goal is to create a therapeutic relationship that is compassionate, evidence-informed, and uniquely responsive to who you are as a whole person.

Coaching at the Center for Trauma Resolution and Recovery
Finding the right therapeutic relationship matters.
Because every person’s story, goals, financial situation, and support needs are different, I recognize that I may not be the best fit for everyone seeking therapy. That’s one of the reasons I founded the Center for Trauma Resolution and Recovery (CTRR)—to expand access to high-quality, trauma-informed care and connect individuals with skilled practitioners who share a commitment to whole-person healing.
CTRR is an online practice offering trauma-informed coaching for individuals and couples navigating religious trauma, faith deconstruction, high-control relationships and systems, cult recovery, purity culture, adverse religious experiences, grief, and other significant life transitions. Our practitioners approach healing through an integrative, nervous system-informed lens and are committed to creating compassionate, collaborative spaces for growth and recovery.
Every CTRR practitioner offers a complimentary inquiry call so you can determine whether they’re the right fit for your needs. If you’re looking for support beyond my individual practice—or simply want to explore your options—I encourage you to schedule a FREE inquiry call with a practitioner(s) of your choice!
