“Should Free” Living

From this month’s blog by CTRR Practitioner Sherah Pettus:

“What happens when you realize how much of your life is driven by “should”? For those healing from religious trauma, learning to distinguish obligation from genuine desire can be a powerful step toward greater freedom, healthier boundaries, and more authentic relationships. Explore the journey of moving from a life shaped by “should” to one guided by choice, connection, and joy, including the simple but transformative practice of learning to say no..”

Beginning Sunday, September 20, 2026, Sherah is offering two support groups: Dating After Purity Culture and Life after Religious Trauma/Deconstruction.

  • Dating After Purity Culture is a support group designed to be a welcoming and affirming space where participants can share their experiences, learn from one another, and receive guidance from a knowledgeable facilitator. The focus is on creating a safe and respectful environment where everyone has the opportunity to grow and thrive.

  • Life after Religious Trauma/Deconstruction provides a supportive space to recalibrate and explore life beyond the confines of high-control religion. Participants will learn to develop self-trust, redefine their sense of purpose, and incorporate practices that foster freedom and confidence. Through guided discussions, simple assignments, and a pace that honors the nervous system, this group helps participants unpack harmful dogma, re-learn what safety feels like, and create a life they are excited to live.
